1. GTA Is Lowest Common Denominator Entertainment For Idiots
The Argument: GTA is one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time, and its base thrills of killing civilians, driving cars with reckless abandon, blowing s*** up and making fat stacks of cash are simply appealing to the lowest common denominator wish fulfillment fantasies of the dumbest, most useless and least-social people in society. It is on the bottom rung of intellectual nourishment and contributes to a brain cell-eroding culture along with Fifty Shades of Grey and Adam Sandler movies. Why It Makes No Sense: Though on the surface GTA might seem like a simplistic game about murder and theft to the outside observer, playing the game for no more than about 10 minutes will reveal the satirical layers that peel back throughout. As a send-up of gang culture, masculinity and Americana as a whole, it's a game that like no other merges artistic aspirations with pure visceral thrills. If people can't see that, then it's their loss at the end of the day. What's your take on these various complaints and controversies surrounding the GTA franchise? Shout it out in the comments!
