There's a golden gaming rule that almost everyone follows, and that is to do what the tutorial tells you. How else will you be able to get to grips with the controls?  

However, that faith was something that Undertale, a game notorious for playing with gaming conventions, sought to exploit. So, it jumped right in at the deep end and made you feel stupid within minutes of starting up.  

The first thing you do in Undertale is walk around a corner and meet Flowey. This talking flower seems sweet and innocent, if a little suspicious. He gives you a quick tutorial on how the game's combat works, informing you that your soul needs LV, which he calls love, and can get some by collecting the white "friendliness pellets" he starts throwing at you.  

As a new player, your instinct to do what you are told kicks in, and you "collect" the bullets, only to have your HP reduced to one. Yes, you just ran headfirst into an attack by an evil flower praying on your naivety. Welcome to Undertale.
