10 Terrible Levels That Haunt Otherwise Perfect Video Games

6. Escaping Taris - Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic features one of the best stories every to be told in the Star Wars universe. In fact, if the filmmakers had actually released this instead of the prequel stories, the franchise probably never would have needed saving by J. J. Abrams.

More important still, however, is the fact that a movie version of KOTOR wouldn't have had to spend hour upon hour grinding its way through the depths of Taris. The city itself was interesting enough for a while, but after spending almost the entire first half of the game there this Coruscant-Lite became an utter bore.

Plenty of important stuff happens on Taris, of course, and much of the early running is dependent on the player's ability to navigate its seedy underworld. In reality this section absolutely did not need to be so long, and these opening stages could definitely have benefitted from being spread over two or three locations instead.

Seeing the planet's surface devastated by the Sith fleet as our hero escaped was as happy an ending as any in that game.
