10 Terrible Video Games Based On Movies

1. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (Atari)

Was anything else ever really going to take the #1 spot? After Raiders of the Lost Ark made gamers cry everywhere, Steven Spielberg decided to get the same guys at Atari to make a game based on his smash-hit E.T., and gave them six weeks to do it. When you think about it that way, what they came up with really wasn't that awful, but still, E.T. stands as the worst video game ever based on a movie, and quite possibly the worst video game ever made, because its underwhelming sales helped kick-start the video game crash that caused a financial meltdown and nearly ruined gaming for a few years. With infuriating mechanics, terrible graphics and nonsensical controls, the game sold only 1.5m of its 4m units, with the rest being driven to a landfill in New Mexico and buried. Such drastic measures make it clear of the game's aggressive badness, as Atari's attempts to flog the rest of the stock at increasingly cut prices didn't even work; it is a rare game based on a popular movie that was so bad even the most casual of audiences rejected it. What other terrible video games based on movies are there? Let us know in the comments below.
