10 TERRIFYING Enemies From Children's Video Games

9. Spyro - Metalback Spiders

These incredibly fast (and practically indestructible) spiders appear in High Caves during the first Spyro game. Unsuspecting players relying on the main character's usually reliable flame breath and charge attacks will find themselves unable to inflict any damage on these enemies.

The moment Spyro enters the creatures' territory, the Metalback spiders will swiftly pursue him and use their long pincers to whittle down the player's health, while hindering any progress. The player must use either a supercharge, or a fairy's kiss to destroy the spiders, whilst trying to ensure they do not crash or have the power-up run out at a fatally inconvenient moment.

Possibly encountering these enemies at the beginning of High Caves, depending on the route the player takes, means that neither of these solutions may be immediately apparent to the player, who may expect this enemy to be another easy obstacle to overcome.

The Metalback spiders are also one of the biggest enemies within the first game, being double the height and width of Spyro and making them even more intimidating.

Whilst they only appear within High Cave, their scuttling moments and fierce aggression make them a terrifying enemy to encounter (especially for any players with arachnophobia).
