10 Terrifying Video Game Enemies That Gave You Nightmares
2. Alma - F.E.A.R.
Let's get this out the way quickly, creepy little girls may be the scariest thing in any format. The Shining? The Ring? Dark Water? Yeah, you know the type, so imagine the sheer terror that can be caused by a faceless little girl obliterating a Delta Squad team telepathically with a power you can't even begin to fathom. That's how F.E.A.R. starts out. The little girl in question, Alma Wade, was a young girl with tremendous psychic powers who was experimented on severely throughout her childhood to the point where she was forced into a coma due to the severity of her condition and the effects of the experiments. Believed to be long dead, she returns to haunt the player's character throughout the game and proves that the most innocuous looking characters can be the most disturbing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4NmNwKaHj8 From screwing with reality, to haunting sounds, to the ghostly child façade and the eventual image of a violent, brutalised adult, she stalks your subconscious through the whole game forcing you to carefully tread through any room that's not full of people shooting at you. The eerie nature of the game has you on edge until the credits roll, only to get you with one last jump scare just when you think it's safe.
