10 Terrifying Video Game Monsters You Were Completely Unprepared For

4. Resident Evil: Code Veronica - Tyrant (On a Plane)

Samuel L. Jackson may have had it rough with some snakes on a plane, but at least he didn't have to deal with a seven foot monstrosity in a cargo hold.

Poor ol' Claire Redfield, though. She just cannot catch a break in Resident Evil Code: Veronica. Not content with being jumped by Wesker on Rockfort Island, some cruel genius thought to up the ante as she tries to leave the place.

Oh yes, no sighs of relief as she and Steve "Most Annoying Sidekick" Burnside commandeer a seaplane to escape. It's bad enough that it gets rerouted to Antarctica, but worse when there's a bloody Tyrant on board.

Tyrants, for the uninitiated, are genetically engineered killing machines. You're generally advised to put as much distance between you and one of them if possible.

Which definitely isn't when you're forced to battle one in a small cargo hold.

Oh, did I mention the Tyrant has a claw bigger than a human head? Yeah, it has one of those.

This fight is tough if you know it's coming. To the unexpected, it's pure torture.
