10 Terrifyingly Dark Implications In Otherwise Cheerful Video Games
1. The Dog Food - Dog's Life
Dog's Life is a game recommended for folks ages three and above, and that also includes a plot that explicitly has a bunch of people's pet dogs ground into mincemeat.
Because we eventually learn that our canine hero's kidnapped love interest - and every other dog that has been kidnapped - is being transported to a factory where the dog-hating Miss Peaches makes them into cat food.
While mercifully we never have to see a pooch be turned into kibble, weirdly we do see this happen to Miss Peaches. She's a villain, so it's less traumatic maybe, but you still watch as she falls into the cat food machine and is torn to pieces, with the helpful robot even telling you it is "slicing" and "dicing" her, just to make it clear it's a very gruesome death.
It's nice to have her unable to try and hurt anymore dogs, but the idea of three year olds watching a cutscene where a woman is (behind a metal screen) basically mulched is pretty messed up, even if she was a bad guy.
