10 Terrifyingly Dark Implications In Otherwise Cheerful Video Games

9. Joseph Leads A Cult - Dream Daddy

Dream Daddy, for those who haven't guessed by its title alone, is a dating simulator where you play as a dad, aiming to romance other dads. Aside from being able to accidentally break your own neck botching some dance moves, it's a fairly tame affair, meant to bring you a little touch of joy by wooing all the various fathers.

Aside from the secret cult ending you can get with Joseph, which balances being funny and being downright terrifying the whole way through. In this ending, Joseph's "cool hip priest" persona is revealed to be a ruse, as he's actually part of a cult who ritually sacrifice wives and ruin marriages so sad dads will pray to his Cthulhu-sounding god.

When Joseph tries to sacrifice you, you're saved by Mary, who stabs her former lover in the shoulder before it's implied he's eaten by his children - who in this version of the storyline aren't accidentally spooky but are literally possessed by demons.

Though this is clearly supposed to be a sort of alternate timeline to the one your "good" ending with Joseph happens in, plenty of players have dodged romancing him just in case he is a crazy cult leader who is simply hiding it better in all the other storylines.

And also because there are better dads. There, I said it.
