10 Things Capcom Wants You To Forget About Resident Evil

From racism scandals to ruining their own characters, one by one.

Resident Evil is one of the longest-running game series in modern gaming. Transcending the medium it was originally created for, the franchise has branched out, becoming a standalone success story in both book and movie form. Often, these releases don't have much to do with the games anymore, but there's long been considered wads of cash to be made from the Resident Evil name. That's just one of the problems with it, the entire concept has lost its soul somewhere along the way. In truth, this isn't something Capcom want people to feel about Resident Evil. The Japanese developer struck gold upon releasing the first game in 1996, but it hasn't exactly been smooth sailing ever since. There's a laundry list of problems surrounding the infamous series. This article exists to explore those troubles, and explain why they're plaguing the once-proud leader of the 'survival horror' gaming genre. Could it be that those glory days are all but over? Perhaps, and the entries featured on this list are almost proof of that. Without a doubt, none of the following topics are things Capcom would like fans drawing attention to. Sadly, they're the result of mis-management of a great franchise, one that's suffering terribly. There's a lot of rescuing to be done if Resident Evil is ever going to return to form.
