10 Things Fallout 5 Should Learn From 1 & 2
3. SPECIAL Should Feel Special
In Fallout 1 and 2, every point you shifted in your character’s SPECIAL attributes had weight. Every one had a real impact on your abilities. In many cases, there were breaking points where a high – or low! – attribute opened up or cut off different paths to complete a quest.
SPECIAL was next to impossible to increase, especially in the first game, and that made it all the more special. Your initial decisions mattered, and every character was created unique.
In Fallout 4 your initial SPECIAL distribution means so little that you soon forget you even have those stats. On top of that, with the removal of proper perks and skills, there’s very little reason not to pump all your initial points into Agility and Perception for perfect VATS speed and accuracy.
After all, there’s no level cap, and nothing is stopping you from maxing out every attribute. Everyone ends up equally special, which means no one really is.
