3. Controls Desperately Need A Rethink
Though this list is largely focused on things RDR2 gets right, it's also important to consider the game's faults, and aspects which GTA 6 absolutely needs to improve upon.
Nothing in RDR2 is quite as aggravating as the "realistic" controls and movement scheme, which often comes across as clumsy and frustratingly floaty.
This is especially true during combat, and though you can argue that it's an attempt to capture the leaden weaponry of the period, considering that gunplay has been a long-time weakness of Rockstar's output, it's hard to believe that's really the case.
Even outside of shooting and punching, Arthur is a straight-up chore to manoeuvre when in tight spaces and surrounded by several interactive objects bunched together.
While it's probably best not to get your hopes up that Rockstar will give this a dramatic overhaul for GTA 6, it sure would be nice.
