10 Things We Learned From The Titanfall Beta

1. It's Great Fun, But Probably Not A Game Changer

This is the main point I took away from Titanfall. It's manic, fast-paced fun, and the ability to wall-run in particular feels like a breath of fresh air for an online FPS, but does it reinvent the wheel? Is it worth all that hype and those dozens of E3 awards? Absolutely not. Yes, we've only seen a small snapshot of what the final game will be like, but unless Respawn have some serious surprises in store, what we've got here is entertaining and addictive, though far from Game of the Year material. My guess is that it's probably going to be worthy of an 80 on Metacritic. I, for one, hope the hype dies down in the next 3 weeks now that gamers have actually had a chance to play it, because otherwise this just feels like a game that's going to disappoint a lot of people. There's only so much Respawn can do, and they've done a great job, but Titanfall is no revelation.
