10 Things Nintendo’s Best Video Games Can Teach Pokémon Sun & Moon

1. Keep The Story Simple - Pokémon Red & Blue

Ultimately the Pokémon franchise has to be considered alongside Nintendo's best, so it's not entirely surprising that it also has a couple of things to teach Sun & Moon. We've talked about one (potentially) deal-breaking instance earlier on, but the origins of the series have something even more important to impart.

The journey to becoming a Pokémon Master is a fairly simple one, when you think about it. It's a case of catching and training the best Pokémon you can while systematically managing to defeat powerful trainers at Gyms and the Elite Four. Pokémon Red & Blue captured this perfectly, while also adding an interesting enough sub-plot thanks to Team Rocket's involvement.

Over the years, however, this brilliantly simple narrative has been stretched and expanded to include everything from an ancient Pokémon war to the return of a nine foot, 3,000 year old king. While it was admittedly interesting to hear a little more around theories of Pokémon wars with X & Y, these additions are ultimately so unnecessary that they become an annoyance as they go on.

Pokémon players simple want to be the very best - like no-one ever was - rather than wasting their time learning about Mega Evolutions and Distortion Worlds.

Keep it simple, Sun & Moon!
