10 Things No One Wants To Admit About Bethesda RPGs
5. The Stealth Is Outdated
Part of what makes RPGs so captivating is that they let players engage with them however they like. From what dialogue choices to pick and which alliances to form to however they choose to build their character, there's no shortage of options available.
Bethesda's roster of RPGs is also full of important choices to make, giving players all the tools they need to play these games however they want.
Not every playstyle is made equal in Bethesda games, though. Out of everything that players can do, stealth is easily the least enjoyable.
Although Skyrim players will have fond memories of using overpowered sneak attacks to get through most dungeons using only a bow, the stealth mechanics haven't evolved much in the years since.
Stealth remains as simple as crouching until the onscreen indicator reads "Hidden" before attacking enemies for extra damage. With no stealth takedowns or dedicated hiding mechanics, these systems feel outdated by the standards set by contemporary RPGs.
Especially when compared to games like Cyberpunk 2077 which made stealth a robust way that players could viably use throughout the entire game, Bethesda need to do a lot to bring their own stealth system up to scratch.
