10 Things Nobody Wants To Admit About PlayStation
4. It'll Drain All Your Bandwidth
Maybe I'm not serious enough as a gamer to require investing in VPN, but soon I will have no choice thanks to the PS4. Setting a download up is easy enough and yes, you can pause them, but I fail to see how Sony have made the PS4 quite so vampiric as when it's accessing bandwidth.
A single download sees many peoples' connections reduced to the speed of a 1998 LAN dial up. In my case I even sit there making the dial up noises to entertain myself as the time passes. Literally, one of the fastest, most expensive internet connections is crippled by one download. ONE!
Perhaps gamers should do sizeable downloads overnight, when a connection is more freed up, but we're often talking about households that use internet based television services too. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Now TV and even BT TV are rendered completely useless during a PS4 download - surely we shouldn't have to pay for VPN just to satisfy a games console that already costs a fortune!?
