10 Things Pro Evolution Soccer Needs To Change To Compete With FIFA Again
3. Improvement Of The PES Esport Scene
The name change in 2020 to eFootballPES2020 should have started a clear surge towards a game that can compete on the esports scene, but despite this it has been another year of backwards steps.
The main competition for players this year has been limited to those who represent esports teams, with an open event taking place for two time periods online for everyone else. It is simply playing Match Day with your best run of 50 matches counting. Due to a time slot each day it limits those who can compete and given the online servers it is a real struggle.
The overall number of events is so low as well, when compared to FIFA which seemingly has a streamed big offline event every couple of weeks. I expected more to follow with the change in the title. Different formats of qualifiers, more opportunities to get people involved which all could lead to a better community. One or two offline events featuring a maximum of 20/30 people is not enough.
As mentioned early the best portion of PES as an eSport is a team 3v3 event, no one else does this in the football game market and this could be a huge opportunity for them if they choose to push it.
