10 Things Pro Evolution Soccer Needs To Change To Compete With FIFA Again

2. Consistent Online Gameplay

I know I keep referring to back in the day when PES was king, but when it was it was the gameplay that took it to the top of the pile. At that point it had even less licenses than now, poor graphics, poor presentation, but phenomenal gameplay which hasn’t been replicated since.

Having played a lot of both FIFA and PES in recent years, PES’ gameplay is on the whole pretty good. If you play offline the game runs very smoothly and even with a couple of bugs is a very good football game.

However, this game does not translate to the same when you play online. Overall lag and delay input hamper the game so much to the point where it becomes unplayable. FIFA isn’t perfect, but is a lot better, the majority of games you play will have little problems. PES plays like online gaming was a decade ago.

Since going online on the PlayStation 2 PES has always struggled online to transfer the offline game it has had. If they could sort that it would go a long way to keeping players coming back for an entire year rather than just the first few months after it is released.
