10 Things Red Dead Redemption 2 Must Learn From GTA V
4. An Immensely Detailed World
Even before it landed we knew GTA V's San Andreas was going to be something special, partly due to Rockstar's track-record as a studio, but also because of the reports that the world itself would require a mandatory 8GB install, just so that the game would run smoothly. In comparison, the entirety of Final Fantasy's VII, VIII and IX only come to 4.6GB, and that's 11 discs worth! Still, after we cleared some space on our hard drives, we were glad for the extra pre-installed data, as GTA V looked and played like a dream, with everything from scratches on buildings and cars to clumps of seaweed and even Trevor's burnt-out motor-home all looking stunning. Next gen hardware allows for a major leap up in the amount of data that can be stored on-disc, and as Red Dead's world was comprised of about two-thirds of open space alongside the shanty towns and cities, we'll be looking to Rockstar to provide a world that is on par with - or up to - that of GTA V.
