10 Things That Gamers Today Will Never Experience

9. Film Previews

The movie tie-in has been a staple since some of the earliest days of video games, including the infamous case of E.T. for the Atari 2600, which lead to the industry crashing in 1983. It also set a precedent of video games based on movies being largely terrible.

Not to say they were all bad. Goldeneye 007 is arguably more popular than the film it's based on, the first two Harry Potter games are excellent and the Lego games based on existing properties have been consistently great.

One thing that seems to have disappeared from these tie-in games are previews of the films they're based on.

Back in the late 90s-early 2000s, they were released to coincide with thae theatrical release, or beforehand, in some cases. Rewards for completing levels would include clips of the film itself, and by the end of the game you'd end up with a collection of scenes before actually seeing the movie.

Pixar were famous for doing this, with their adaptations of A Bug's Life and Finding Nemo giving players with exclusive previews of their films for mastering their games.
