Since there are technically three separate titles on offer here, it was necessary to have a selection process from the main menu when you decide which game you are wanting to jump into at the start of play.

A nice side-effect of this is that while each of the titles had its own graphic, there was a motivation to push on through each of the games as it listed your progress not only for that game, but overall. Especially when moving from one game to the next, it was always a boost for the player to see another title sitting at one hundred or even a hundred and twenty percent.

Overall completion percentage being visible at the beginning every time was a subtle choice that really fed into the scavenger-hunt style that the Spyro games were famous for and appealed to the completionist nature of the player.

It made progress within individual games and overall a very real and tangible statistic that the player could easily access and is probably responsible in part for the number of people that persevered to the very end of all three games in the trilogy.
