10 Things To Love And Hate About The Spyro Reignited Trilogy

8. Hate: The Back Tracking

One of the main gameplay mechanics in Spyro has always been collecting. Whether it is jewels or gems, orbs or eggs, there is always something to be gathered and some total to be reached.

In the original title at least, it was almost always possible to collect every single gem and egg and leave a level happy when you had seen that "100% complete" notice pop up at the bottom of the screen. In the next two titles, this became impossible.

There were certain eggs and orbs that were locked behind either abilities or characteristics that were not unlocked the first time you encountered them. This could be eggs up a climbable wall before you learnt how to do this or similar things that had to be revisited once a later condition was met.

While it can be viewed as a relatively minor complaint in the grand scheme of things, it took what a lot of the player base had adopted as their play-style and made it unworkable. People who focused on getting through one entire level or world at a time were forced to leave things unfinished and re-visit later.

A small niggle, but an issue nonetheless.
