10 Things Uncharted 4’s Beta Revealed About The Full Game

1. Uncharted's Multiplayer Will Continue To Be Incredibly Underrated

Be honest, if Uncharted didn't have a multiplayer mode, would you even care? From the second it was introduced in Uncharted 2 and carried through to 3, the vast majority of fans that see the series as a dedicated single-player experience couldn't give two El goddamn Dorados about playing online. To that end, Uncharted 4's multiplayer trailer received quite the bout of negativity upon first showing, mostly down to it looking as though Naughty Dog had lost the plot by introducing too many supernatural elements. The thing is though, this hearty mix of third-person cover shooting, their own tried n' tested platforming and all-new powers gives the franchise one hell of an identity in the competitive arena. There's nothing that even comes close to matching the open-ended feel of gameplay here, as in introducing so many potentially contrasting elements, Uncharted pulls them together to get miles away from Gears of War or any other third-person shooter on the market. That said, Uncharted isn't about to shake its narrative-focussed roots any time soon, and for that reason alone, the series' very impressive and innovative multiplayer will almost definitely remain an afterthought.
