10 Things You Didn't Know About Borderlands 2

6. The Game Connects To Another Popular Franchise

The Borderlands franchise didn't come out of nowhere; the developers were clearly influenced by other properties, which is how most games are brought into the world. Devs are gamers, and it seems another franchise they clearly enjoy playing is Fallout. There are some similarities in the game, but there are more than most people know.

One of the most obvious influences is the use of vaults in the Fallout universe and the Vault the player is trying to find in Borderlands. That influence is pretty much right there on the surface, but if you dig a little deeper, there's a skin that pays a far more direct homage to Fallout.

There's a Vault Dweller Skin in Borderlands 2 that looks strangely familiar to anyone who's played a Fallout game. The design consists of a blue bodysuit with yellow highlights in specific places. Basically, it's the suit all denizens of Fallout's vaults wear, and you can get the same skin in Borderlands 2.

There's another reference to Fallout 3, which featured a radio host and DJ called Three Dog. The game has a shotgun called Dog, but the file name is spelled "Thre Dog." The description reads, "Because one barrel ain’t enough and two is too few." Three Dog's famous line from Fallout 3 is, "Three Dog because one dog ain’t enough, and two is too low; it’s Three Dog!"
