10 Things You Didn't Know About Borderlands 2

4. What's In A Name?

Pandora is a world of monsters — well, they're just the natural fauna on an alien planet, but they're about as close to monsters as you'll find in any video game franchise. Borderlands 2 upped the nastiness of the beasts you encounter from the first game, and the first nasty you stumble across is called a Bullymong.

It's a big, nasty creature with a strange name, but you can do something about that. One of the earliest quests you can do in the game is to work for Sir Hammerlock in finding a better name for the creatures. If you accept the quest, things get interesting.

He gave up halfway through renaming the creatures and settled on "Boner Farts" as the best option available to him. When that happens, the in-game description for them changes to reflect his decision. What's great about this is, if you abandon the quest at that point, they will continue being called "Boner Farts" for the remainder of the game.

Interestingly, the quest reflects a real-life problem the developers had in naming these creatures. Originally, "Bullymong" was just a placeholder until they could come up with something better. After a while, the name just stuck with them, and they went with it, leaving the final decision up to the player via a quest.
