10 Things You Didn't Know About Red Dead Redemption

1. Behind The Scenes Drama Led To A Messy Release

Red Dead Redemption I Know You

As you might have guessed, the development of Red Dead Redemption was not smooth. In fact, by most accounts, it was pretty much a disaster right until the last moment.

Leaks from inside the studio were reported at the time, alleging that the game was suffering from major mismanagement and a lack of direction, with anonymous developers again casting doubt on its ability to make money back due to the sheer scope of the production.

This was seemingly corroborated by e-mails from inside Rockstar itself (that were released as part of a lawsuit), with co-founders Sam and Dan Houser 'freaking out' about the game not being good enough as late as October 2009. This is also apparently why the title never came to PC, because the code was Frankensteined together in a way that barely allowed it to run on console.

It all worked out in the end for the game, but the effects of the production are still talked about today, especially the Rockstar Spouses petition which accused the company of pushing developers to breaking point with extreme crunch.
