10 Things You Didn't Know About Wolfenstein
1. Neumond Records
Creating an authentic 1960's environment for MachineGames' Wolfenstein releases was clearly of high priority for the developers. A crucial aspect for this was an appropriate soundtrack.
To reflect the new history seen in The New order title, eight original songs were recorded. In addition, three prominent pieces were reworked into German for the 2015 game, The Animals' "The House of the Rising Sun", John Lee Hooker's "Boom, Boom" and Martha and the Vandellas' "Nowhere to Run".
However, due to regulations from the original artists regarding the use of their material alongside Nazi imagery, the famous songs were only able to be used in Bethesda Softworks' marketing material. For them to be able to promote the songs, Bethesda actually created a fictional recording company entitled Neumond records. Featuring fictional backgrounds for the artists and songs, the tracks published under the label are parodies of real songs, which have been reworked to feature contents from the Nazi doctrine.
MachineGames and Bethesda clearly showed some serious dedication to producing an authentic 1960's experience.
