10 Things You Didn't Know Your Nintendo Switch Could Do

2. Pin-Lock Your Switch Using Parental Controls

Somewhat bafflingly, the Switch doesn't come with a feature that's been standard on other portable devices for years (and is even present on home consoles like the PS4): adding a PIN lock code to prevent unwanted folks accessing your data.

It's a big omission, and if you happen to leave your Switch lying around somewhere, there's nothing stopping someone from booting it up and messing with your game saves and other information.

Luckily, there is a workaround to give your Switch a PIN lock passcode - as detailed by Reddit user 4oby - it just requires a bit of extra effort.

Firstly, download and install the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app on your smartphone/tablet - this is free to use. Then, link the app to the Switch you want to add the PIN lock to, and within the app, create your 4-digit PIN code of choice (and make sure you remember it).

Lastly, adjust the following app settings: change age restrictions to none, turn on "Set Days Individually" (found under "Play Time Limit"), and set each day to 0 minutes, turn on "Suspend Software", hit save, and you're all done.

This isn't as simple as a built-in PIN lock feature would be, but it works all the same.
