Twilight Princess introduced a new character into the franchise called Ooccoo. This weird human-headed chicken thingy allows Link to teleport to each dungeon's entrance. Oocoo and her child, Ooccoo Jr., play a more crucial role in the last dungeon, the City in the Sky.

As bizarre as Ooccoo is, you might wonder why his appearance seems somewhat familiar. This creature was inspired by the artwork of MC Escher. Escher was famous for his distorting artwork, especially the Endless Staircase. One of his drawings, Another World, has the same topsy-turvy aesthetics as Ooccoo's home in the sky. In Escher's picture, there are three human-faced birds that are unmistakably the inspiration for the Ooccoo.

But that's not the only secret revolving around this bewildering creature. The word, Ooccoo, is derived from the colour code (also known as the hex colour) for green, 00cc00. 00cc00 is the exact shade used for Link's tunic in the original Legend of Zelda game.

When you think about it, it's pretty amazing how many secrets this little guy has. Sadly, most players will never know about them because they'll be too weirded out by his freaky appearance.
