10 Things You Should NOT Do With Pokémon GO
8. Succumb To Microtransactions
Pokémon GO is free-to-play, which roughly translates to “We made a game that's free, but could you pretty please pay us money for stuff you clearly don't want or need?”
In-game items cost in-game Pokécoins. You can buy Pokéballs, Incense and Lure models to bring them closer, Lucky Eggs for experience multipliers, incubators for hatching Pokémon, and other storage upgrades. Then again, does spending £60 for 15,000 coins sound like a bargain, or a pointless investment?
Sometimes, the quest is more fun than earning the achievement itself. Why bother wasting your precious dosh on virtual money when you can toil away and earn it yourself? It's more rewarding, and fun, this way.
Microtransactions are nothing more than a shortcut; a sleazy, easy way out of the thick of it. Compared to, say, defending your precious Pokémon gyms from invaders (level 5 onwards), there's really no point in it. A Defender Bonus will bless you with lots of PokeCoins and even Stardust to boost their stats.
Besides, some of the better rewards like Master Balls cannot be bought in-game or in real life. Catching 'em all and levelling up is what you gotta do if you ever want a chance at wielding some of these.
