5. The Elder Scrolls Original Artwork - Bethesda
And they say the human race is doomed to repeat the same mistakes over and over. At least this sort of thing wouldn't fly anymore - not outside of Japan, anyway.
Bethesda's art for The Elder Scrolls: Arena (also known as the original, sans a number) was more 90s than a pair of board shorts rapping about their home town. Just look at the state of that middle character's "armour" - it's the sort of formerly acceptable toss that many female voices in the games industry and beyond are rallying against.
And for good reason. It's hilariously bad, indicative of a developer mentality that targets "horny young male" demographics - one the industry has outgrown, and one that Bethesda themselves certainly never returned to, either.
In fact, have you ever seen the art for TES II: Daggerfall? Damn.
