10 All-Time Best Zombie Games That We All Love

1. The Walking Dead

Games based off already existing properties can be very hit or miss €“ for every Batman: Arkham Asylum, there's a Superman 64 waiting to ruin everything. The Walking Dead had plenty of potential to be turned into a game but still, the fact that Telltale made such a good game out of it is still amazing. The Walking Dead is set parallel to the events of the comic series (and therefore, the TV series too) but features very little crossover €“ the focus is rightly placed on new characters and stories. It was a brave move from Telltale but as the massive success of the game shows, it was a great one. In particular, the developing relationship of the two central characters in the game - Lee and Clementine - is what carries the experience; Lee's role as a guardian for Clem will fuel the majority of your decisions in the game. Those decisions are made through quick-fire choices in conversation with characters; some fairly innocuous (you can be more friendly to characters you like, for example) and some with far-reaching consequences (saving a certain person may result in another's death). Of course, being set in a zombie apocalypse the undead feature, but your encounters with them (physical ones, anyway) are so rare that they actually become a far more nerve-wracking experience; suddenly being forced into a fight with a zombie after a series of conversations is a pretty big shock to the system. There's really not too much anyone can say about The Walking Dead without ruining the experience for you completely; it's definitely a game you need to try for yourself. You may feel that there isn't enough gameplay for your liking but the story and emotional attachment should be enough to draw anyone into its beautifully drawn universe. If you like your zombies to be a side dish to some amazing human stories, The Walking Dead is a must. This list is open to debate and nobody is going to agree completely. You may also disagree with my definition of what a zombie is and that may add a whole new set of games into contention for this list. I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
