10 Times Dark Souls Games BRUTALLY Tricked You
1. Transporter Chest - Elden Ring
If you've played a FromSoftware game before, various encounters with mimics will have instilled an intrinsic mistrust for chests. So, when players leaped into Elden Ring for the first time, it's understandable that any chest will have been treated with the utmost caution.
One of the first chests players can stumble across is found within the Dragon-Burnt Ruins, located in the centre of Agheel Lake. Players can find two chests here, and after giving them a good whack to see if they'll come alive, they'll feel relieved to see no mimic.
However, one of these chests hides something far more unpredictable. When opened, a cloud of mist is released that envelopes the player and transports them deep within Selia Crystal Tunnel, a much tougher area found in the heart of the hellish Caelid.
Even after dying here players will respawn back in the tunnels. To escape, players will need to find the nearest Site Of Grace - but doing so won't be easy. Doing so requires finding a way past a group of strong enemies that players at this point will be too under-levelled to face.
Even for FromSoftware, this was a cruel trick to play, and all for a consumable item.
