10 Times Just Not Giving A F**K Gave Us Great Video Games
7. Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
While Far Cry has always maintained a steady level of popularity, the series really blew up in 2012 with the launch of Far Cry 3. There was a renewed focus on character and story within the game, leading to the creation of one of the more memorable villains in recent gaming history, Vaas. If you've noticed a lot more buzz about the upcoming Far Cry 4, it's all a result of the critical success that was Far Cry 3. However, Far Cry 4 isn't the immediate follow-up to the third game. In 2013, Ubisoft released a spin-off using much of the same assets as Far Cry 3 called Blood Dragon. Described as an "80s VHS vision of the future" by Ubisoft, Blood Dragon disregarded almost everything about the Far Cry series and took on a retro-futuristic sheen which took everybody by surprise when it was first revealed. In fact, many considered it to be an April Fool's Joke. Blood Dragon was no joke though. Underneath the 80s action movie satire, there was a great game, thanks to the gameplay and mechanics of Far Cry 3. It looks amazing too, the neon lights and shiny metals definitely make it look like an 80s movie set in a dystopian world. Deservedly, Blood Dragon became Ubisoft's best selling downloadable game and a sequel looks inevitable. Not bad for a game that was written off as a joke early on.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
