10 Times Nintendo Games Were Not Family Friendly
2. Resident Evil (GameCube)
Arguably the best entry in Capcom’s iconic survival horror series, this remake of the 1996 PlayStation game dialed up the scares by replacing the infamously dire voice acting and the brighter aesthetic of the mansion with an all-new (and much more competent) voice cast and a much darker, dirtier and undeniably scary look.
If the return of zombies, mutant dogs, giant snakes, gargantuan spiders, and vicious Hunters from the original were not enough, protagonists Chris and Jill had to contend with new Crimson Heads, reanimated zombies who were much more aggressive and dangerous, as well as the tragic horror that is Lisa Trevor, a seemingly unkillable test subject who would crop up at various points in the story.
Needless to say, this is not one for kids.
Combined with the monsters that haunt the mansion, the graphic violence, the plot of insidious scientists manufacturing deadly viruses in the name of weapons research, as well as the character’s colourful language, make this game one of the most deserving of the Mature rating. However, like many others on this list, the gameplay combination of horror, puzzle solving, and gunplay make this also one of the best offerings on any console.
