10 Times The Games Industry Had No Idea WTF It Was Doing

5. Messing Up Remasters Of Old Games

Even though the idea of remasters in general has taken a kicking over the past couple of years, when they're done right these games can offer players new and improved versions of titles they love that can sometimes surpass the originals in terms of quality.

Some publishers however, seem to view these re-releases as quick cash-grabs; easy opportunities to milk fans for all they're worth while putting in as little effort as possible.

But it's the overpricing of these games that's proven to be the real sticking point. There was no reason why the bundled re-release of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2 needed to be £50 when quality remakes like Ratchet and Clank were being sold for £30, and this inflated pricing model has only hindered re-releases that could have otherwise been huge successes.

Sometimes it goes further than just pricing however, and occasionally it becomes evident that publishers have absolutely no respect for either the games they're remastering or the fans who are clamouring for them.

Modern Warfare Remastered is probably the worst example of this, only being available if you bought the special edition of Infinite Warfare, lacking core maps, having microtransactions crow-barred in, and having the game's nine-year old DLC being sold separately, and for an increased price, months later.
