10 Times Video Game Developers Lied Straight To Your Face

1. Destiny's Broken Promises

Destiny 2
Bungie

The development of the original Destiny is well-documented to have been a total disaster, with Bungie not really knowing what they were trying to create up until the very last minute, while the original story the writers spent years crafting was thrown out six months before release and stitched together with something else.

With so much changing all the time, then, it was pretty much inevitable that the developers promoting the game would end up putting their feet in their mouths more than a couple of times.

While showing off how the multiplayer integration would work, a big song and dance was made about how seamless it would be, how players could explore anywhere in their crosshairs, visit planets that weren't included in the game and enjoy a new raid with each new DLC pack. All of these plans ended up falling through.

Of course, Destiny continued to disappoint its fans, which, combined with pretty shady microtransaction practices from both Activision and Bungie, resulted in it being one of the biggest misfires of the generation.
