Red Dead Redemption's main campaign was decent enough. The real heart of the game came from the impact of the ending and the emotional ties that were built towards John Marston. But, the rest of it was a lot of filler and unending shoot-outs. It was always, ride here, shoot 'x' amount of people, and ride away.

So, that is why Undead Nightmare is such an enjoyable experience. It takes the mechanics of the main game and puts them into something that is interesting and worthwhile. Instead of shooting random thugs, you're hunting down Bigfoot.

It embraces a wackier tone and thus not only achieves a genuinely fun gameplay experience but also serves as one of the greatest satires of the zombie genre. It is a whole lot more fun than simply riding around shooting random goons.
