2. No One Will Actually Remember That - The Walking Dead

Telltale Games

The Walking Dead games, as well as the rest of Telltale's releases, managed to become so successful in no small part thanks to the choices you made throughout your playthrough.

The gravity of the supposed consequences of your decisions, coupled with the ominous reminders telling you that someone "will remember that," constantly puts you on edge, making you believe that you're about to make a choice that will alter the lives of your characters forever.

But nothing could be further from the truth. No one will actually remember that.

The reality of Telltale games is that they're actually incredibly linear, and the choices you make never affect any major points of the plot. Characters you might be trying to save the entire game will die anyway if the plot demands it. Your attempt to influence them to act a certain way will magically disappear the moment they need to shoot someone in the head to add some end-of-season cliffhanger to the mix.

Of course, this doesn't mean the game's story cannot be gripping and exciting at times, but once you realize how pointless your decisions are, trying to do your best in the game loses all charm.
