10 Times Video Games RECAST Major Roles
7. D.C Douglas - Resident Evil
Since its debut, the Resident Evil franchise has led the way for survival horror. The main antagonist of the franchise was one who lurked behind the scenes. Albert Wesker, a former scientist of Umbrella, was one of the leading minds behind the catastrophes of the T-Virus.
While the series icon was originally voiced by Pablo Kuntz in the franchise's debut title and Richard Waugh in the 2000s, D.C Douglas took over and gave the character a British accent from Resident Evil 5 onwards. For anyone who played that title, the new actor stamped himself onto the series.
Clearly, Capcom wanted to craft a grand return for Wesker in the fifth entry and D.C Douglas certainly pulled it off, creating a performance that commanded every scene he appeared in. This went hand in hand with the new direction the antagonist went in. As opposed to manipulating events from behind the scenes, the more direct approach Albert shows became the driving force.
D.C Douglas has continued to voice Wesker since 2009 and while his role in the franchise has lessened over the last decade, the character still commands a weighty presence whenever he turns up. This also extends to Marvel Vs Capcom 3 and other spin-off titles.
