10 Times Video Games RECAST Major Roles

2. Ben Jordan - Spider-Man

The most recent change to make the list, Marvel's Spider-Man PS4 was an undeniably sublime effort from Insomniac Games. For their first licensed product, they knocked it out of the park with another excellent superhero experience.

In addition to its stellar gameplay and superb presentation of New York City, the game's story was surprisingly deep, putting itself alongside the webslinger's finest outings. The protagonist himself was played by Yuri Lowenthal, a veteran voice actor who had previously voiced the main character in Ubisoft's Prince of Persia trilogy.

Despite the rousing success, Insomniac saw fit to change Peter Parker's likeness to a younger looking actor. To the dismay of many fans, Insomniac has recently replaced Yuri Lowenthal's face with a younger looking Ben Jordan for facial capture. While Lowenthal provided the voice and motion capture for Spidey, his work was mapped onto John Bubinak's face in the final product for PlayStation 4.

The developer has stated that Jordan's face provides a better match for Yuri's performance and will serve the franchise going forward. This includes the remastered PS5 version of Spider-Man, Miles Morales and the upcoming follow-up. Fans have disagreed with this change, violently so, but Insomniac is firm on their direction going forward.
