Video game logic implies that no matter how urgent a mission might seem in the cutscenes, the game will usually let you take your sweet time when it comes to actually completing it. This is especially true for RPG titles with plenty of side missions like Wasteland 3, which can make it pretty difficult to keep up with every quest you accept.

And yet, despite this, Wasteland 3 does include one side mission that, unlike any other quest in the game, will resolve itself automatically if the player ignores it long enough. The mission, called "A Very Hostile Takeover," requires the player to either aid or sabotage Charley Knowes and his mercenaries as they attempt to kill the merchants of the Bizarre and take their territory for themselves.

If the player chooses to wait around and pick a side later, Charley's people will attack the Bizarre on their own, which results in both sides killing each other and turning the Bizarre into a dead and empty battlefield.

Seeing as most urgent-sounding missions in the game let you ignore them, the fact that Charley's assault can happen without you getting involved makes the massacre at the Bizarre all the more shocking.
