10 Times Video Games Totally Broke Your Trust

8. Nemesis Knocks On Your Doors - Resident Evil 3 Remake

Resident Evil 3
Capcom

The safe rooms in Resident Evil games are special checkpoints that the player relies on for a brief break from the insanity of zombies and mutants. As soon as the player enters them, none of the crazy monsters can harm them, and they can spend some time recuperating, sorting their items, and saving the game.

The safe room mechanic is pretty much a staple of the series, which is why the fact that the Resident Evil 3 remake messes with it is so shocking... and terrifying.

The relentless super soldier, Nemesis, can actually break into several of the safe rooms in the remake, despite every other monster in every other Resident Evil game being incapable of entering them. Whenever you think you're safe from danger, Nemesis can just punch the door to the safe room off its hinges and burst inside to torment you some more.

This feature is an especially cruel betrayal of Capcom's own rules, considering that the original Resident Evil 3 didn't include it. If you had some experiences with the game in the past, Nemesis' new disregard for personal space feels all the more surprising.
