10 Times Video Games Were One Step Ahead Of You
8. You're not supposed to be here - Grand Theft Auto III
Easter eggs hidden in seemingly inaccessible locations are a pretty common thing in games. However, it's rare for developers to directly call you out for using exploits to reach them, like Rockstar did in Grand Theft Auto III.
Near an empty parking lot on Staunton Island, there is a wall that is just tall enough to prevent you from jumping over it. That said, you can climb over it by parking a car underneath and then jumping from the roof.
The extra height will allow you to get to the other side of the wall, where the developers have prepared for an unwanted guest such as yourself.
As soon as you enter the out-of-bounds location, you'll be welcomed by a text image saying, "You werent supposed to be able to get here you know."
Although the message might make it seem like you managed to outsmart Rockstar's map design, it's clear the developers have anticipated someone might look for a way inside. Followup versions of the area inside Liberty City Stories on PSP referenced your exploits yet again, if you managed to repeat the act, with the PS2 version saying "You just can't get enough of this alley, can you?"
