10 Times You HATED Yourself For Buying A Video Game
9. Aliens: Colonial Marines
The number of video games based on movies that are actually worth playing is embarrassingly low, and the Alien franchise has certainly proven itself no exception over the years.
Yet that didn't stop fans buying into the hype for Aliens: Colonial Marines, largely due to the involvement of Borderlands developers Gearbox Software, who were admittedly also fresh off releasing the execrable Duke Nukem Forever (which we'll get to later).
Even the most hopeful of players should've been cautioned, however, by the fact that Sega embargoed reviews until the day of release, yet that naturally didn't stop many fans from pre-ordering the game regardless.
And as it turned out, Colonial Marines was of course a crushing disappointment, touting markedly worse graphics than the marketing implied, while being rife with debilitating glitches and atrocious A.I.
Between all this and the campaign's mere five-hour length, launch day customers no doubt felt the sting of buyer's remorse.
Given that Colonial Marines topped the charts on its release week, clearly a great many Alien fans were duped by both the deceptive marketing and their own blindly misguided loyalty to the brand.
