10 Times You HATED Yourself For Buying A Video Game
4. Star Wars Battlefront II
When the Star Wars Battlefront reboot was released in 2015, fans were simply happy to have a glossy AAA multiplayer Star Wars game on the eve of the sequel movie trilogy's launch.
But the honeymoon period quickly lifted once players realised that the central gameplay loop was intensely one-note, and without a single-player campaign, there really wasn't enough content to justify the price tag.
To their seeming credit, EA owned up to the "mistakes" they made with Battlefront and promised that 2017's sequel would be a far more feature-rich offering, complete with a cinematic solo campaign and free extra content in place of a season pass.
Optimism was high going into Battlefront II's release, but once reviews dropped, it was clear that EA had once again become blinded by greed.
For starters, reviewers noted that the launch version of the game contained oppressive microtransactions which provided overt advantages to players who shelled out real world cash - a feature which, admittedly, was quickly removed from the game.
Elsewhere, the campaign was largely panned as a boring, low-effort farce, and the multiplayer deemed only an incremental mechanical improvement over what came before.
Needless to say, when Battlefront III inevitably materialises, you should take everything EA says about it with a galactic truckload of salt.
