5. Penguin Punishment - Mario 64
Behind the large, smiling face of Super Mario lurks darkness. After all, the plumber-cum-hero has spent most of his career stomping on turtles. When his dinosaur companion Yoshi joined the series, players realised that they could jump off their new pal and leave him to drop into a pit for some sweet air time.
In short, he's not innocent.
But of course, the real measure of a mustachioed man is whether or not he can resist the urge to drop a baby penguin to its death.
In Mario 64, there's a stage called Cool, Cool Mountain. This is a largely vertical level, and one of the objectives is delivering a baby bird from the peak down to its Mother below by sliding down the mountain and avoiding pitfalls.
Problem is, the lost baby is quite annoying. It wanders around aimlessly, and when you pick it up, starts repeatedly yapping. You could save it... or you could hoof it off the mountain for laughs.
And, to be fair, there's nothing stopping you from completing the objective and being a horrible person. If you return the baby to the Mother, you'll be awarded a Power Star. Before grabbing it, you can scoop the baby back up and chuck it to its doom right in front of its Mother.
Don't tell Princess Peach, or she might consider the possibility that Bowser isn't quite as evil as you are.
