6. It's A Bit Too Long - It Takes Two

It Takes Two was one of 2021's most acclaimed games, scooping Game of the Year accolades at both The Game Awards and the D.I.C.E. Awards, with many praising its ludicrously entertaining co-op multiplayer gameplay.

And indeed, It Takes Two is an absolute blast to play with a friend, whether they're an expert gamer or someone totally new to the medium.

The problem, though, is that it's ultimately a bit too long for its own good.

Given that developer Hazelight's previous co-op multiplayer adventures, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and A Way Out, were both fairly bite-sized stories clocking in at less than six hours, it was quite a surprise to see how comparatively epic It Takes Two turned out to be.

For most players it takes somewhere between 10-12 hours to clear the game, and while it absolutely provides a lot of bang for your buck, many felt that it was just too much of an ask for a game centered around co-op gameplay.

For starters, most adults have pretty busy lives where it can be tough to set aside this much time to play a game with a friend, especially with all us having our own wildly differing schedules.

While if you were playing with a less-experienced gamer or perhaps even a total non-gamer, that play-time would become massively prohibitive.

Though there are certainly those who praised the length as ensuring greater value-for-money, the surprisingly beefy play-time also meant that some players may have taken months to find time to beat it with a friend.
