10 Tiny Video Game Details You DON'T Want To See
7. The Legend Of Zelda: Majora’s Mask - The Horrible Sadism Of The All-Night Mask
The Legend
Of Zelda: Majora’s Mask is rather infamous among Nintendo fans. Just one look
at the moon’s horrific face would be enough to convince you that this game is a
little more frightening that Zelda tends to be. The more you see, the more this
impression seems to be reinforced.
Of course, the game is more about a distinctly creepy vibe than outright, in-your-face horror. The series does a fantastic job of guiding the player without the overbearing hand-holding Nintendo can sometimes offer. Gossip Stones and the like can help to lead Link along, and behind such a stone is a scary, scary hint indeed.
Of the many masks our hero can don throughout this adventure, one is known as the All-Night Mask. It isn’t the most crucial one, but it does have its uses. Link can, for instance, listen all the way through a certain pensioner’s rambling stories while wearing it, as it prevents him from falling asleep.
The trouble is, it can prevent the wearer from ever sleeping again. A Gossip Stone hidden away in the game casually informs the player that this ghastly object is used to torture victims.
