The creatures are famous for their delayed reactions to pain and general unawareness, but that’s no excuse. Considering they need their tails to evolve (a Shellder clamps on and a Slowbro is born) and they dip them into rivers to catch fish, they need those tails far, far more than we do.

Its Japanese name translates to “Delicious Tail,” and it exists purely to be sold in the game’s stores. This says a lot about the Pokémon world’s prioritization of profit, even if Slowpoke tails do fall off and regrow.
